About this course

This 5-week asynchronous online course is developed and designed for those who are working in the clinical year, such as Clinical Coordinators or Directors of Clinical Education, in a PA program for at least three months. This course will focus on the foundational knowledge and skills essential for effectively coordinating and managing clinical education with attention to alignment with accreditation standards. The expected time commitment will be about 2 hours each week.

During the 5 weeks of this course, you will learn:

  • The role and responsibilities of the clinical coordinator,  the purpose and function of the clinical year, and the ARC accreditation standards that apply specifically to the clinical year.
  • How to ensure rotation syllabi are well-written, designed, and appropriate, including effective course learning outcomes and instructional objectives
  • Appropriate student tracking, evaluation, and assessment with attention to accreditation compliance  
  • Critical clinical year policies, procedures, and maintenance to ensure accreditation alignment and compliance
  • How to thrive as a clinical coordinator

In addition, there will be one live Zoom meeting scheduled during the course to provide individual guidance and answer questions. Each participant will also have the opportunity for one 30-minute one-to-one mentorship meeting with Dr. WhiteHorse.
